I have no reason for you to bag the guy, and I desire him every success in the Sharks. But wasn't he permitted to break his contract at the Bulldogs and move to Brisbane because that's where he wanted to be along with his family? Shouldn't that have put his head in a good place so that he could generate his best form? That didn't happen, and I doubt it is because he wasn't shown any "love" by his team pals / buddies.
I don't see the Boyd situation this current year (prior to his injury) like a major factor: both may play in a number of positions, so it's not as if it was an exciting or nothing competition for fullback.
