Two Hunter Valley high schools get home from the F1 in Schools national finals with top six results.
Maitland Grossmann High School finished in the bronze medal position, while Mount View oakley sunglasses wholesale High school graduation in Cessnock came sixth.
The Re Engineering Australia F1 in Schools competition involves over nine million students throughout the world designing, making and racing miniature cars.
The competition starts with a regional level, with teams then qualifying by way of state and 38 teams reaching the national finals.
Maitland Grossmann's Synergy Racing, consisting of year 11 students Sam and Michael Holmes, Jade Bassett and Ethan Burgess, defied expectations to complete third.
The team finished second at regional level and third at state finals, so arrived as the underdog.
But having competed with the national finals in 2015 gave them the ability and experience to perform on the big stage.
"Since we'd all attended nationals before we knew what cheap ray ban sunglasses we were arriving to," Sam said.
"This year we refined our skills," Ethan added.
They also won the award for optimum managed enterprise, which credited their efforts and the time left before, during and after school every day.
They said it had been an indescribable feeling to complete in the top three.
"It's amazing, all of the hard work we've place in has repaid," Jade said.
Technology teacher Roger Allon said the end result was well deserved.
"Their enthusiasm as well as their talent speaks for itself."
The group now have to decide whether they encourage a wild card offer to compete on the World Championships in Texas, USA in October.
The end result was deja vu for Mount View, following the team, Revolution Racing, came sixth inside the 2015 national competition.
Supervising teacher Mark Bassett said what held the group back coming from a better finish was the paint not drying about the vehicles before the race started.
Mr Bassett said the boys were disappointed with all the mistake, but they improved from this past year in every other aspect.
The team made it in to the top 3 for the best verbal presentation, outstanding industry collaboration and finest team innovation inside the professional division.
"They were looking to do better than last year but the competition was very fierce and incredibly tough.
"They did themselves proud and the community proud."
