for Women & Men! Pickled Piglet owners to launch start-up in derelict Jewellery Quarter pub
A historic Jewellery Quarter pub vacant for up to two decades is poised to reopen this summer as ray ban sale a new bar launched from the owners of The Pickled Piglet.
Called The Pig Tail, it will be housed in the Grade II listed former George and Dragon in Albion Street and may sell craft beer, small dishes and sharing plates.
The Pickled Piglet, in Gas Street, operates by couple team Mark and Chrissy Rafferty that are now planning to branch by helping cover their their second venue.
Mr Rafferty said he was drawn to the building's historic feel and also the fact it could offer a lot character.
"If I'm honest, we are just suckers for buildings who have original features. When evaluating a new venue, we saw a lot of modern projects however they had not even attempt to them," he stated.
"It's been somewhat of a battle regarding the planning side from it but, when it's done, it's these characteristics which are already there generating the character.
"Initially, I wasn't sure in regards to the Jewellery Quarter but there seems to be so much investment in this portion of Birmingham so, as long as we position the same passion and drive into this new place, we are successful."
