With a harmonica endorsement deal and ray ban sale online a debut disc in shops

The myth is everything's BIG in Texas egos, hat sizes, excuses. ray ban sunglasses on sale It is stated that Texans have a tendency to exaggerate their importance more than most with delusions of grandeur bigger than Rock Hudson's ranch in "Giant." If Texas is indeed great, why's half its population in California? And so why do the Dallas Cowboys stink? One tall tale from Texas that isn't is the fact that Texas rocks.

Gary Primich, a harmonica and guitarist out of Austin by using Chicago, isn't quite prepared to match the chart successes of ZZ Top, The Fabulous Thunderbirds or Eric Johnson, but simply give him one minute. Primich is an Amazing guy, like Amazing Records away from Austin, the label which has just released his band's debut disc.

Primich and the Midnight Creepers will probably be bringing their sweaty brand of hot rhythm and blues to Felix's Cantina on State Street this Tuesday for the week's Blues Tues Daze presentation.

"The album will likely be out in a short time," Primich said inside a recent telephone interview. "Lately, we've been concentrating on getting this record out then playing to as much people as you possibly can. This is a blues thing on an independent label. We attempted to give the record form of a Chess sound. As we sell, say, 15,000 copies, we'll feel like it's a hit. If we do 25,000 to 30,000, we'll feel it's mega."

Primich, who plays about 250 nights a year, was voted No. 1 in a 1990 Music City poll of harmonica players. Besides that, Primich has an endorsement cope with Hohner, the top harmonica makers from sea to shining sea. That's like as being a glutton and having a season pass on the Snickers factory.

"When I used to be growing up in Chicago, I discount oakley sunglasses outlet cheap had been able to pay attention to a lot of evening radio," he stated. "One station specifically, WXRT, used to come at 10 through the night, and they'd play anything from rock to ray ban sale Howlin' Wolf. I spotted that all these cool old blues guys actually lived there."

The drinking age in Illinois then was 18, but Primich said he was stepping into clubs before that. "My life may be ruined since that time. I always liked the sound of the harmonica, and soon, I knew it was for me.

"I'm getting this endorsement deal through the Hohner company now before I used to spend a number of thousand bucks annually on harmonicas. A harmonica only lasts me about several months now. I lay an egg pretty hard."

Primich, before he was your head Creeper, was in another band away from Austin, the Mannish Boys. They did a few critically acclaimed albums for a similar label.

"The Mannish Boys was a cute blues band that played rock 'n' roll. This band is often a blues band that plays blues," Primich said. "For an urban area the size of Austin barely half a million people there's the best huge and various scene. Austin is actually known for blues and great rock 'n' roll. There are many clubs and plenty of bands, as there are very much an active music scene. This area is just crawling with musicians."

Primich, without yet the proud one who owns a personalized parking spot in the bank, is duly appreciated among his peers. His musical pals range from the likes of Steve Berlin, James Harman, Dave Alvin, Willie Nelson, Mojo Nixon, Jimmy Fitting harmonica player of Treat Her Right and Gil T, once of Top Jimmy the Rhythm Pigs. Besides everything, Primich was motivated to participate in something known as the Harmonica Rumble.

"This Harmonica Rumble thing what food was in a local nightclub called Antone's. A French label called New Rose is releasing an album. There were seven harmonica players there, and not all at oakley frogskins for sale once."

Blues bands typically attract a rather older crowd with few Deadheads, no metal heads, no disco dummies no punkers, but usually lots of dancers and the ones bent to boogie. Its keep was enough time Primich played into a captive audience.

"For most younger people I mean under 25 blues is an acquired taste," Primich said. "For kids, you already know, it's not cool to like blues until you're older. Generally, our crowds are in the 25 to 45 generation.

"But one time, I played to some crowd that featured all ages. It was in the federal penitentiary in Bastrop, Texas, a medium security prison. There were a few murderers but mostly burglars, armed robbers and lots of drug offenders. Needless to say, it was all men. I'd do this love song, and stay singing something regarding how much I enjoy you or whatever, and then apply out and see all these men looking at me. Man, I believed, 'What am I saying?' Anyway, they loved it. It had been a lot better than playing at some yuppie steakhouse at 50 decibels with nobody listening."

Another amazing thing about Primich is he's about the only blues dude in memory who doesn't wear eyeglasses.

"Naw, man, I ain't into shades," he was quoted saying. "Maybe most of those dudes incorporate some sort of endorsement cope with Ray Ban. Not me."
