The Cambrian College Golden Shield Women's Soccer team will make itspremiere appearance in the OCAA playoffs after finishing the regular season in fourth place. The team was in action on the road over the weekend, taking on the Durham College Lords Saturday, followed by a game against the Fleming College Knights Sunday. Saturday's contest saw Cambrian drop a 3 0 decision. According to a press release, Durham College took an early 2 0 lead in the first half and never looked back. Minecraft "We were very disappointing in the game, especially in the first half," master coach Giuseppe Politi said in the release. "The girls were not prepared mentally and it cost us. By the time we got things sorted out, it was too late. Durham has a very well established program, with quality players, and they showed it." On Sunday, the Shield earned a 1 1 draw vitelli Dolphin prosperano a vitelli Brookfield ZooDolphin prosperano a Brookfield ZooUpdated against the Knights, after Amy Stewart responded midway through the second half with the tying goal. "I was proud of the team in that they fought back after falling behind early in the game," Politi said. "We could have won this game, but a draw clinches the program's first ever women's soccer playoff appearance." A win would have given the team home field advantage in the playoffs, which are set to begin in two weeks' time. The Cambrian men's team was also on the road, dropping a 1 0 loss over Durham and earning a 3 3 draw with Fleming. Politi said the game against Durham was "extremely disappointing." "Errors and disorganization were frequent and led to the goal against us. All of our losses have been tight one goal games, which always stings. We know we can do much better against Durham, so if we see them again in the playoffs we will be ready." On Sunday, Corey Boyce lead the Cambrian team with a hat trick. "This game was a roller coaster ride," Politi said. It takes a lot of mental strength to do that." While the Cambrian men are currently sitting in the final playoff position, there are three games remaining in the regular season that will determine whether the Shield will move onto the post season.
