Victory books Cup start for prime Opinion
It's full steam ahead to Friday week's $150,000 Wagga Gold Cup (2000m) for top after a fighting victory at Murrumbidgee Turf Club on Tuesday.
Wagga trainer Chris Heywood will push on to next week's feature race full of confidence after the four year old stayer returned to top form with victory in the Viewco Glass MTC Country Cup (2000m).
Even though the win should see High secure a spot in the Cup Ray Ban Wayfarer 90% off field, the provision of Southern District's top apprentice jockey, Nick Heywood, remains unclear pending an appeal.
Nick was suspended at Gosford on Monday and, mainly because it currently stands, will miss both the big era of the Wagga carnival.
The suspension was going to be served and Ray Ban Wayfarer 90% off handle before the Town Plate but after some confusion the dates changed to in the near future.

Heywood believes the win will be enough to secure High a start.

"Because he's won his benchmark rating moves up to 74, that will get him in," he explained.
"The plan was always arrive at this race and have the win. I'm pretty very pleased with him entering next week."
It turned out an all Wagga finish for the MTC Country Cup rich in finishing a half length looking at Video Show, with Jo Jo Girl an extra length away in third place.
Both Video Show and Jo Jo Girl put in promising Cup trials but will have to play the waiting game to determine if they can secure a start.
