Associate Professor Murray Phillips

Dr Phillips features a range of research interests in the historical and contemporary dimensions of sport. He's got written about the historical and contemporary aspects of sport and war, sport and gender, sports' coaching, golf, rugby league, rugby union, sport structures along with the ontological, epistemological and methodological facets of sport history.

With one of these interests in your mind, Dr Phillips has received external funding from your Australian Research Council, Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Coaching Council, the Australian War Memorial, along with internal funding from your Universities of Canberra, South Australia and Queensland. He was commissioned by the Women and Sport Unit with the Australian Sports Commission to create An Illusory Image: An investigation on the Media Coverage and Portrayal of Women's Sport australia wide 1996, has written a history of coaching in Australia entitled From Sidelines to Centre Field for your Australian Coaching Council, and is currently writing the centennial reputation swimming around australia for the National Sporting Organisation, Australian Swimming. Moreover, Dr Phillips continues to be contracted to edit a novel on the ontological, ray ban outlet epistemological and methodological size of sport history that attracts on the collective connection with twelve of the leading sport historians around the globe.
