Internet dies when streaming video

My internet has the annoying problem of dying once i try and stream video from sites such as MLB TV or PBS. (Although not from YouTube or DailyMotion). The rest works fine i rarely if ever have problems accessing the web. I am utilizing a Speedstream 5360 and a Linksys BEFW11S4 Broadband B router, and my ISP is SBC/AT DSL. This challenge started while i upgraded my firmware and hang up my internet settings to auto in XP depending on the instructions that came with the router upgrade. It was a trade off because now my wireless network is successful but this could be the only problem. I've lost my original router setup disk so I can't use that.

I could get streaming video to function only by connecting with a manually made microsoft windows broadband internet connection (WAN miniport, PPPOE) with my email address contact information and password for my ISP. I can't need to do this to access the internet otherwise, that i find kind of strange.

Even stranger is the fact that I can only get this manual connection to work only try and get it done immediately after another green light on my modem turns on (after powering up). If I wait a long time it hangs on "Connecting to WAN Miniport" and i also have to shut off my modem/router and try again. Of course this is very annoying. You'll want to check the documentation on your two devices to find out if they have a hardware firewall internal.

The modem can be a Speedstream 5360 ADSL Modem. Sorry to the confusion, I should do more homework before posting and am a networking "noob" since you can obviously tell!

Neither my router or modem had any thorough docs aside from small pamphlets on the way to install them. The manufacurer homepage and this link also have the same largely uninformative pamphlet. I do not believe the modem features a firewall.

A fast scan in the Linksys manual shows no firewall options. I've not witnessed any around the router URL either.

However, might this certainly be a firewall related problem? It seems like to be a bizarre issue, and i also couldnt find other people having similar problems on this forum forms of languages.

I do believe the problem is my router or my connection settings, because I was running streaming video after i had my modem no router. I was also getting streaming video w/ my router and modem before I set my connection settings to auto config. Basically could connect my modem to my pc w/out the router I'd accomplish that, but as I discussed my PC now only connects together with the router between.
