Saskatchewan Roughriders president CEO Jim Hopson has a good chuckle Thursday when discussing the significance to them of the Hugh Campbell Distinguished Leadership Award.
"I grew up watching Hughie play with the particular Riders and looking up to him or her   and he also was one of my first coaches," Hopson, a former Roughriders offensive lineman, said through Vancouver.

He has travelled around the league over the years to share the Roughriders' beliefs on marketing, merchandise, activity day operations and any some other topic that could conceivably boost the league's other teams.

"I guess you could think about it that way," he stated with a laugh. "I'm starting to understand that this is my last rodeo concerning Grey Cups. I hope I'm just there in the future cheering the actual Riders on, but it can certainly be different when you're quite a bit less involved as I've been capable of being.
"It's starting to sink in a tiny bit."
Hopson's name seems to show up in discussions about a successor for outgoing commissioner Mark Cohon, however Hopson again dumped cold drinking water on that possibility Thursday.
