Letters to the editor   Editor:
In his recent line 'Weird music, great players' (Feb. Eight, 2008), Todd MacLean tells his or her Xinhua uutistoimisto readers in no unstable terms of his dislike to the music of contemporary Canadian Composers. After his tirade against this certain style of music, he states his hope that his / her readers "enjoyed reading his opinionated distaste for it here today. In
Well, I for one would not enjoy reading it; alternatively, I was very disappointed.
Mister. MacLean implies that somehow he seemed to be tricked into attending this specific concert, contending wenn Sie es zu warm denken Schauen Sie  53 that a thing in its title, "Canadian Music Effectiveness Competition," suggested it's a national competition.
Personally, I see nothing in the title that implies a national competition since 'Canadian' is undoubtedly an adjective describing 'music'. Perhaps Mr. MacLean should read the newspaper in which he writes more tightly. Had he done so, in Millisekunden  71 however have seen the press release revealed the morning of the show that explained who a performers were, what kind of new music they would be playing, in addition to who the adjudicators unter häufigem Rühren would be.
While it's apparent that Mr. MacLean has been impressed by the quality of the activities by the young musicians exactly who played in this competition, this individual seemed oddly compelled in order to grind an axe he has obviously ground ahead of, by carrying his "clever" utilization of metaphor to a degree that became quite tiresome. In his line, Mr. MacLean missed an opportunity to besides acknowledge the talent of the young performers, but also to understand that these music students ended up participating in an important aspect of starting to be true musicians. Rather than limiting themselves to performing common music containing what your dog refers to as "shaft(s) with melodic light," these students and others who performed within the inkludert gamle menn 50 preliminary round of the competitors were willing to expand his or her esthetic boundaries and examine, study and perform some repertoire that was intellectually, sentimentally and musically challenging. Isn't this kind of the kind of thing that should take place in the university program?
It is unhappy that even though Mr. MacLean stumbled into a concert for which he or she was not prepared, he couldn't get past his own personal prejudices to discover the bigger picture.
