Reverend Maxi Lee Adair was born January 10, 1940 in El Paso, Texas. He went to his heavenly home August 6, 2012 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 72. Maxi graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1959. In 1960, he served his country by joining the United States Army and received an honorable discharged in 1963. Maxi married the love of his life, Charlotte Williams on December 10, 1965. They were blessed with three children. He worked for Acme Engineering beginning in 1965 until his retirement in 2002. Maxi gave his life to God on March 14, 1969 and surrendered to preach New Year's Eve 1974. During his years of service in God's Army, he pastored the Grovania Free Will Baptist Church, Fort Gibson Free Will Baptist Church, Hitchita Free Will Baptist Church, and the First Free Will Baptist Church in Muskogee. Maxi loved God and his family. He will truly be missed.
John Dee Wynn, 82 year old Checotah native, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 in Claremore, Oklahoma. John was born to Milford and Lillie Wynn on Wednesday, February 5, 1930 in Checotah, Oklahoma. He graduated from Checotah High School in 1949 and later attended Connors State College prior to enlisting in the Armed Forces. John honorably served The United States of America as an enlisted member of the Navy, in the "Seabees", from January 1951 to December 1954, during the Korean War. After returning home, he became an Oklahoma State University graduate in Dairy Science. John later received his Master's degree from Michigan State in Dairy Chemistry. After receiving his master's he worked in Glenview, Illinois for National Dairy Products and then in California for Carnation Research Laboratories. He moved to Plano, TX where he worked for Anderson Clayton Foods in Richardson, TX before moving back to Checotah in 1975, where he purchased a meat processing plant, Wynn Meat Processing, and worked it in addition to his ranching a déclaré lactiviste des droits des personnes handicapées Ari Neeman for twenty years before retiring. John was preceded in death by his parents Milford and Lillie Wynn; and wife Joan. He is lovingly survived by his children Eric Wynn and wife Janel of McAlister, OK; Pam Duvall and husband Brad of Jenks, OK; grandchildren, Morgan Wynn, Jared Stow, Jordan Whiddon, Jackson Duvall; and great grandchild, Garrett Whiddon. He is also survived by his sister Maggie Fike of Blanco, OK; brother Dr. Leo Wynn of Checotah, OK; mother of his children, Nita Jane Lewis as well as additional extended family members and a community full of friends. Viewing for John will be 9 AM until 8 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2012 with his family greeting friends from 4 6 PM at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Committal prayers and Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. David King, Donnie King, Perry Miller, Eric Wynn, Brad Duvall and Jarrod Stow are serving as Casket Bearers.

Freda L. Morris, long time Whitefield and Hoyt resident died Tuesday, March 22, 2011. A native of Enterprise she was born November 22, 1925 to Thomas E. and Ethel L. (Peters) Wren. She grew up at Hitchita and Council Hill where she was educated. She was married to Charles Morris on January 17, 1946. They made their home at Whitefield and started farming and raising six children. They moved to Hoyt in 1984 and resided there together until the death of Mr. Morris in 2010. She loved to sew, crochet, and quilt, she also enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. She was New York and other cities Tuesday very skilled in fixing anything around the house or on the farm. She was a long time member of the Sandridge United Pentecostal Church.
