Johnson too few to save Saints

A DEBUT double double from American recruit Gary Johnson wasn't enough for the Smithton Saints, who occurred to Burnie by 20 points in Saturday night's NWBU men's games.

Johnson, who's playing with Smithton inside the NWBU as well as the North West Tall Timbers Thunder from the SEABL this season, finished his debut game with 38 points and 14 rebounds.

Paige French added 13 points and Samantha Clements another 10 to secure the win for your Warriors.

The Burnie Tigers composed for their loss to Somerset in round one with the 11 point enlighten Smithton thanks to Zoe Mitchell with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Hayley Shephard added 20 points and nine rebounds.

Jacqueline Atkins also impressed with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
