Sheep prices down
Jock Duncombe of Duncombe and Co Stock and Station Agents Crookwell told the Post that most ewes were making on average around $130 140 a head, which has been on par with other selling centres over the region, but sales were considerably upon last year.
Assistant Saleyards Manager Luke Doggett and Daniel Croker from Landmark Goulburn said prices either way first cross ewes and lambs were at the very least $80 $100 cheaper than 2012.
"The average price recently was at $188 per head," Mr Doggett said.
"This year the top price was $154 per head, Ray Ban Wayfarer 90% off with an average expense of only $95.65, the good $80 to $100 cheaper than last year's record prices.
"The market appears to have quietened down this year, because this past year we were taken from a decade of drought. I think it seems to be a little more sedate in 2010, because the farmers and buyers are watching the way the state and federal economies are faring, considering the recent downturn in general."
