Laneway fills for youth festival

GLOVER prize winner Josh Foley painted a ten metre swathe of Devonport's Rooke Lane on Friday.

His can be the fifth artwork made in the space between your carpark and laneway for National Youth Week celebration Reclaim the Lane.

"This particular effort is meant to be celebrating a youthful vitality as well as energy to do this I chose I'd build a fairly musical piece," Foley, that is based in Launceston, said.

Foley tries to " synch up" his simultaneous studies in music and colour through his work.

"I looked over the wall that I'm working on as in some ways bars of music and i have just as an experiment I decided to really make it in the key of D major."

Working onto a surface aside from canvas was less "cerebral" and provides the whole body involved, oakley sunglasses outlet clearance sale he stated.

"It makes you think about your interests in different ways than you'll working on a canvas, you have to expand it somewhat and earn it more accessible."

Reclaim the Lane is often a chance for teenagers to show what they're capable of and develop additional skills, Junction HUB Coordinator Damian Collins said.

"[It gives] young people a stage expressing themselves and also to create greater community appreciation for your positive attributes teenagers have to offer."

Reclaim the Lane is co ordinated by Devonport Regional Gallery along with their young members the Droogs, Devonport City Council and Youth, Family and  Connections.
